As the Chemo Drips...

After beating ovarian cancer once, I've been re-diagnosed. Here I'll share my journey of chemotherapy and surgery including the ups and downs, laughter and tears and everything in between.

Sunshine

It's not been quite a week since I've arrived to Mexico, but I feel like a different person.  The constant nose bleeds have stopped as well as the constant nausea.  I've been sleeping 8 hours most nights and waking up feeling well rested.  I've read 2 books so far, and have been able to concentrate and focus on what I'm reading, something I couldn't do at home.  I'm sure the warm weather and sunshine has alot to do with it  We have been busy with our friends, going out to some secluded beaches and having bbq's...they are working on keeping my red blood count up..lots of iron in steak and spinach salad.  Bob and I are going to go south to the border of Belize tomorrow, stopping off at some funky beach towns and just hanging out for 4 days.  The thought of having to fly home for chemo keeps popping in my head every now and then, but I keep pushing it further away, I don't want to think of the cancer, treatments, Dr.s etc.  As my friend Hakima told me, " Everyday is a celebration" and that's how I'm going to try and live my life.  There's no sense wasting precious time worrying about something that I can't fix.  Looking forward a fun adventure this week and after I return from home our friends Tracey and Craig will be down and after them Beth will be here.  Lots of good times ahead!!!!!!

So happy to hear your having a great time! Your little "side trip" sounds wonderful too. There is just something magical about the beach and the ocean that can wash all the negative thoughts away! Don't worry about tomorrow because by doing so your robbing yourself of TODAY! "If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it.....If a problem cannot be solved, what's the use of worrying?"...have an amazing time! Love you, Melana
